Fuck the International Olympic Committee

The IOC wants Canada's government to give them trademark ownership of these common dictionary words, city names and numbers:

bronze
gold
olympic
medals
silver
sponsors
winter

Ottawa
Vancouver

2010
21st

Who the hell do these people think they are???

I am so sick and tired of gigantic, behemoth corporations buying laws to protect themselves from all those scary citizens with their internet connections and inkjet printers.

I've slapped together a 1024x768 wallpaper to vent my displeasure. Please feel free to download it and show your contempt for this craven idiocy.

(Oh crap! I forgot bronze! Check back later for new rev.)

Canada should *rent* copyright of certain words (like "gold" or "ring") to the big "multinational corporations" for a billion dollars each (two billion Canadian).

The rental term can be something reasonable - say 1 week or so.

Greed is good. Go for the gold.

Every now and then when your life gets complicated and the weasels start closing in, the only cure is to load up on heinous chemicals and then drive like a bastard from Hollywood to Las Vegas ... with the music at top volume and at least a pint of ether.

-Hunter S. Thompson

Dedicated to the other side of Las Vegas, namely; the sprawling, mad, incoherent underpinnings of the world's favorite destination.

That, and the occasional ranting about nothing in particular.
