no surf in the Soda Sea

Cool picture --- is this on the south side of the strip?

Or maybe just after the Bats?*

It's on the west side.

And it's easier to see if you're running 100psi in your tires.

Dear Anon-

The Great Red Shark doesn't pull over very easily.

Nice quote, Scum.

Liberty Valance is an interesting flick; it illuminates the development of the 'polis' - the beginning of the paradigm shift between lawless and the Law, loner and Society, and the rise of the Hobbesian State.

But I don't know what any of this has to do with Vegas or your suddenly silent anon fan club.

I didn't realize Calvin's stuffed tiger had his own state.

That is the only movie I know of where The Duke plays a bad guy. He may not be as bad as Lee Marvin but he's still a bad guy.

Technically, isn't zzyzx on the southwest side of the strip? Is that splitting pubic hairs? Or spitting pubic hairs?

The Duke wasn't the bad guy, he sacrificed everything for the good of Society: his honor (shooting a man from ambush), his girl, and his place in town. He saw what needed to be done and took the action regardless of the consequences to his own personal happiness.

Nixon did the same thing: he saw that the country needed a change, that eyes needed to be opened - so he sacrificed his political career for the good of the country.

At least that's what HST says.
Who knows? Both of them are dead like Elvis.

The Duke, Nixon and Hunter all together.

You really did that.

Could this be where Elvis left the building?

Don't forget Elvis. He got The King in there too.

Every now and then when your life gets complicated and the weasels start closing in, the only cure is to load up on heinous chemicals and then drive like a bastard from Hollywood to Las Vegas ... with the music at top volume and at least a pint of ether.

-Hunter S. Thompson

Dedicated to the other side of Las Vegas, namely; the sprawling, mad, incoherent underpinnings of the world's favorite destination.

That, and the occasional ranting about nothing in particular.
